The current route 182 was introduced on 13 June 1970. It replaced the former route 158 between Watford Junction and Harrow Weald and also route 18 between Harrow & Wealdstone and Sudbury, and continued to Wembley Trading Estate.
In 1971, route 258 replaced the Harrow Weald and Watford Junction section of the route. When Brent Cross was opened in 1976, route 182 was rerouted via Wembley Park, Neasden Shopping Centre and Staples Corner to be terminated at the new shopping Centre, but only in the daytime and the route was extended to Brent Cross tube station (on Mon-Fri peaks/Saturdays except evenings).
Also in 1976, section to Brent Cross tube station was withdrawn and replaced by route 210; and in 1978, route 182 was extended from Brent Cross Shopping Centre to Finchley Manor Cottage Tavern. The Finchley section was withdrawn in 1982.
In 1999 the route was extended in the Harrow Weald area from the garage to Oxhey Lane to replace former bus route H15. Evening service to Brent Cross Shopping Centre was introduced in 2003. Since 2004, it runs both ways on Wealdstone High Street and frequencies was increased.[1]
Route 182 has always been operated by Metroline and from the Harrow Weald garage using different types of double-decker vehicles, but today, it only uses Volvo B7TL / Plaxton President's.
